if you do pilates everyday for 1 hour, how long will it take to notice weight change and a more fit body. and do pilates even work??
I've lost some weight and need to tone up. i have some flabby skin on my stomach, like a pouch, and my thighs/legs. if i do mari winsor's pilates for an hour a day and eat healthily, am i able to lose the flab? apparantly the videos include cardio, but i'm not completely sure about much at this point. and if so, does anyone know roughly how long until i start seeing results at this rate? thanks in advance
Can anybody tell me good pilates exercises, or websites where I can find them? I am especially interested in targeting the lower abs. Thanks!
What are some pilates exercises I can do to elongate the look of my abs?
I'd love to lose some weight pretty quickly and tone up my muscles whilst doing it to feel better about myself. I am a little overweight for my height and I am on the pill atm so it would be beneficial for my health to lose some weight. I'd love to know how to do pilates exercises so if anyone has knowledge of these, I would really appreciate if you gave me some info of what exercises i need to do.
Does anyone knows where can i buy pilates equipment, not the huge bed, i'm looking for the exercise balls and rings, etc., I want to open a fitness center here in mexico, but i'm looking for a good supplier in the usa

Has anyone purchased a home pilates reformer and what brand did you purchase and how would you rate it. Thanking you in advance
Hi All! I'm looking to purchase a pilates reformer for my home. What do you recommend for the purchase? I'm looking for something that isn't top of the line, but not bottom either. We purchased a nordic track eliptical a couple of years ago and it is a piece of JUNK and I have 5-10 service calls on it a year. I'm looking for something more well made. Thanks so much! If you have a brand to recommend, please also include the model. Thanks!
My husband is a cabinetmaker; and he wants to construct a Pilates Reformer for me. I'm not well and can't leave the house to exercise. Any information would be most appreciated.
i have one of those pilates machines, ( http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31JMVNRWFML._AA280_.jpg ) and i want to lose body fat and tone up, but not gain too much muscle. im 5"4' and about 119 lbs (im 15, btw), but i just have alot of excess body fat right on my tummy. can someone give me a link to some exercises taht can target certain areas that i might be having problems iwth (tummy, arms, inner thighs, lower back/butt) i guess i should explain the "excess" fat, May of this year, i weighed 167 lbs.. i lost alot of weight over the summer.
I am looking to purchase a pilates machine for home use. My mom has an Aero pilates she got from QVC with a rebounder and loves it. A friend has the Pilates Performer and swears its the best. Does anyone have any experience with these machines and suggest a good one? I am a beginner. Thanks! I want a machine. I hurt my knee and back in an accident and need some support. The doctor recommended a trainer, but I cannot afford that. I am a college student..
I'm looking to tone up. I'm an on-off jogger, but I can't keep the running up because of a funny ankle. So I'd like to do gyrotonic/reformer/machine pilates. Is it ok to do 2hrs a day, and will that make and keep me super toned?
I have noticed on different reviews of the pilates chair that some peope refer to the 'handles' while others claim that they did not receive them. Can anyone that purchased the Malibu chair advise if the handles came with the product?
I saw it on t.v. and it looks like a great little work out machine but i wanted to see if anyone has ever tried it and what they think about it. Does anyone know the cost? Is it Truly a great work out? Please let me know! Thanks!
I want to know the full price not the trial price..Thanks.
I've suffered with back pain for six months now, and after having numerous physiotherapy treatments, I've now been referred to podiartry. I've heard Pilates can help people in my position and just wondered if anyone knew of a good pilates dvd to tackle back pain. If anyone has tried and tested any Pilates dvd please let me know, I'm desperate for some relief! Thanks.
I want to start pilates- I know you can do it with exercise equipment or a mat... What does the exercise equipment involve and is it expensive? I'm completely new to this. I want to get a dvd so I can work out in my dorm when i go to college, any suggestions on the best dvd to get?
I really don't have the time or money to go to a pilates class but am really interested in it and would love to start doing it, but is a book or a dvd or a combination worth it, or are they generally no where near as good/helpful as in a class?

My chiropractor has recommended that I start doing Pilates. There is a class at my local centre which is at the same time as an Aerobics class that I've been going to for a couple of years and am getting sick of. I do exercise 3 or 4 times per week anyway. If I do this Pilates class instead of the Aerobics, am I going to see my weight loss stop or decrease?
I registered for a pilates class fall quarter and i wanted to know what should i bring on the first day? I don't want to look like a dork lol. I don't need shoes for pilates right? thanks people! oh and the instrucot is a guy. do you think he'll be mean? haha.
I am looking for a course to take in Pilates apparatus that has the facility to offer a visa to study in the US. Preferably in the New York area.
I heard pilates and resistance training typically produce long, lean muscles rather than the bulkier type muscles with traditional wieght training. Is this true? Is this the best way to produce the slender, tight, long, lean muscles? Is there a better way? Thanks!! I just thought of something else! If pilates is the best way, then can I get the same results using resistance bands and exercise balls rather than the actual pilates machine?
I have hit a plateau in my weight loss--I was doing vigorous aerobic exercise for 45-60mn 6-7 days per week. I would like to switch to doing more toning-type exercises. Everything I read says that you have to have a day of rest in between strength training (lifting weights for toning). But would Pilates count as more strength training, or can I organize my schedule like this: 1 day a blend of aero and toning, the next Pilates, 1 day aero/toning, the next Pilates, and so on? I'm also wondering if Yoga counts as strength training.

I'm starting Ballroom Dancing courses next week so that I could lose some weight in a fun way. Should I sign up for a Pilates course too? I'm not exactly thin and there are like 10kg I want to lose, plus get into a nice shape(like all the serious dances). Would Pilates courses be a good idea along with Ballroom Dancing? Would it help me look more slim and fit (in the "no muscles standing out" way) after say half a year?
I need to take a blowoff class for an extra 2crds at my community college and the only gym course that fits into my schedule is a pilates class, what is pilates?
I started pilates and yoga in January (having done practically no exercise previously) and I absolutely love them. I would like to become a teacher in either but wondered how long it would take to reach the level of fitness needed to train as a teacher. Also how many times should I practise every week? Thanks.
I was wondering how can I become pilates teacher? I haven't gone to lessons regularly, but enjoy the experience. Do I need to go for some course to be certified? What's best in UK with regards to where I can get qualified? I did some google research, but there are so many options and fees vary quite a lot.. I dont want to go for something cheap and not proper, but I also dont want to overpay... Could anyone advise please... Thank you so much...xxx
I am interested in becoming a pilates teacher. I have found many foundations of pilates in UK. and I don't know which schools or which foundation of pilates are good. Actually, I have done pilates for 1 year in Alan Herdman studio and I have asked teacher training course to them but they haven't repied to me. Does anyone know any other good pilates method (school) and teacher training course?
Hi.. A friend of mine was telling me about a thing called "Pilates Certification". Can anyone tell me a bit more about this and is it worth doing? Take care Bruce
Im not toned at all yet I have that skinny type of body its not toned and I need to gain 4 pounds of weight, will winsor pilates help me gain weight and sculpt my body?? also which program would be best? which program should I get, and should I get the circle thing two? How long do I have to do it a week, etc?
with the winsor pilates ab sculpting DVD do you need any equiptment?
How has Winsor Pilates worked for you? How long did it take to see results? Is it fun? Is it easy? Is it worth it?
I want to tone my WHOLE body: I want toned arms, back, stomach, butt, thighs, calves. Basically the whole works. I want an exercise that can provide similar physical results as cardio exercises like swimming/jogging where you look lean and toned with NO bulk. I searched this up on this site and most people say Pilates is better if you wanna sweat it out and tone - it has better physical results than Yoga, which is my goal. My questions are: 1. Is Pilates is better than Yoga for toning and firming with NO bulk? 2. If so, what are the general tools I need for Pilates? (like a mat etc.) 3. How long does it take to achieve the results and how often do I have to do it? 4. Can I totally be dependent on only Pilates to keep me toned and maintain my physique? 5. Can I do the same moves all the time? As in will my body stop "responding"? 6. Is it Pilates or Yoga that Eva Longoria does on Desperate Housewives? and last question which I forgot: how long does a session of Pilates take?
Ab lounge, home gym, yoga, pilates, cardio, boxing, toning tools or weight lifting?
I'm interested in getting certified as a fitness instructor (yoga, pilates, personal trainer, etc.) but I want to hear from people who have been through it before. What certification did you get? What advice do you have for people who are considering starting the certification. What things did you wish you knew before you started? What mistakes have you made? Did the certification help you get a better job? Was it worth the effort? What were the most helpful tools to help get certified (products, training, books...please be specific). How much money did you spend to get certified, how much time? Thank you.
I recently joined a mat pilates class and want to know whether it will tone my body.
I don't exactly have money pouring out of me and can't afford a pilates mat or a gym membership (I'm not exactly old enough yet). What can i use in stead of the mat to do pilates on.
I have heard several things. I want to tone my arms, abs, but and thighs. I am not overweight, just a little "loose". I am signing up for a Mat Pilates class - does it truly target these areas?
I want to take the reformer class, not mat pilates. I live near Plano and would drive 10-15 miles.
Most people that go to the gym know that most gym have group fitness classes like pilates, cardio kickboxing, step aerobics, yoga, etc. In order to teach these group fitness classes does one have to pass some sort of exam or certification? And are you certified to teach all the classes or just one type like step aerobics?
